I've been eyeballing Indie guitars for a couple of years now, but as they where in the UK previously it was hard to get out and find one to noodle around with. Ideally I was looking for something a bit more like Les Paul so I had been looking at the Indie Standard Custom. Once I found Gear-Stream and realize they now offered them out of Canada and they where giving a 50% discount on the shape line I just could not resist and I just got mine today. Out of the box the instrument is beautiful and pristine. Looks just like the pictures. The neck finish is a modern satin finish that offers almost no resistance to the hand and the thickness is solid but not bulky, the fretboard is wonderful. The strings where down tuned a full note (likely for storage/transport). Once I tuned it up it sounded really nice, the action was great out of the box and the intonation was great on all but the low E and even that was only out a bit. In general the out of box set-up was excellent. The pickups sound great and are loud and crunchy, the only issue I have right now is I can't quite figure out how the pickups are wired as there is the 1 volume, 1 tone, the typical 3-way and then a single small toggle that I know on some guitars is often used for coil-tapping (like my Modern Player Telecaster). I went to the Indie site and found several wiring diagrams,(http://www.indieguitars.com/PDF/) but none matched the Sun Extreme so for now I will just experiment.
In general a lovely guitar and a phenomenal deal at 50% off. Also from order to door was TWO DAYS. Just great!
